Gospel singer/songwriter Montrel Darrett’s musical evolution is taking its next great leap forward. Influenced by his early roots, his music has grown along with his experience and exposure to - and with - other gospel greats. He wrote his first song when he was four, and formed his first group, the True Notes with his four sisters and brother.
Darrett also worked with other local bands in Nashville and recorded a few singles as a teenager.Montrel joined gospel greats John P. Kee and Bobby Jones in the group Commissioned, with whom he performed and recorded for a number of years. In order to express his own version of gospel music, Darrett left the group and released his solo debut, “Chronicles of the Soul”, in 1999 and his CD, “Soul Metal”. His other projects include writing and producing for other gospel acts including Virtue, Sharon Riley, and Faith Chorale. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide.
Now, after a brief hiatus from recording, Montrel is re-emerging with a brand new group, a fresh sound and a renewed message. Montrel spent a lot of time and put in a lot of effort to find and create the right material and sound for this new CD, "Back To Back".
Go get it and love it!—Montrel Darrett
